In 1975 Sam Shupper started Glass Accessories International (GAI) with his son Jack, daughter-in-law Lynne and nephew Gordon Raine. Soon after the company was started, John Alexander joined GAI as the director of marketing and grew the company significantly. Together they introduced the Original brass TOYO Supercutter® – the first of a new generation of self-oiling professional glass cutters. When introduced, the Supercutter was radically new in design, utilizing revolutionary wheel technology developed by Toyo in Japan. This tool offered the advantage of an incomparable wheel life plus a patented ‘oil-feed’ system for a cleaner score.

With surging popularity, Toyo and GAI developed a series of innovative handle designs and performance improvements. The most recent advancement, Tap-Wheel Technology®, is making glass cutting easier than ever before.
